I put my MEP802 into the bed of the M998 and strapped it down. Now I have portable power.

I put a thick rubber stall mat underneath it with the intent of protecting the aluminum HMMWV bed from the genset skids, and I'm just blown away at how much quieter it makes the genset.

I also wired in a power cable. This is way more cable and PD box than the genset can support, so I can't use it all at once, but it gives me a lot of options for connecting everything ranging from my house to my plasma cutter.

My genset doesn't have batteries, so it and the M998 are slaved together.

Was it BAD diesel ( old, contaminated etc. ) or just fresh L.S.D from the pump ( which is also pretty much garbage right out of the nozzle )?
I wouldn't run any of my older stuff these days with straight pump diesel, everything gets heavily dosed with lubricants and fuel conditioners.

I pulled out the generators for a couple of church festivals, covering the high-draw loads like inflatables, popcorn makers, cotton candy, sound system, etc. Basically 90% of the total power draw.

I also found two more distribution boxes on Marketplace for cheap and bought another 100' of 6/4 extension to stretch my power distribution out further.
The last gig required 375' of cords, but I was able to locate the generator far enough away from the tents that no one even knew there was a generator on site.

Getting its new home ready. Poured just today

Judging by the tools in the background I assume you finished the slab yourself? although I don't see the broom.... regardless... nice finish work, coming from someone who's a bit of a concrete finish snob, it looks very good. If I pour something and a single bristle stroke is looks crooked or uneven, I'll trowel and rebroom the whole thing, Nice work.View attachment 957567

Nope, network engineer, but I had a guy helping whose done concrete once, and another guy whos done concrete once, but is a tile setter by trade so I feel like he had a bit more knowledge of the grey schmoo then he was letting on. Mud is mud right? Anyway, thanks for the kind words, i passed them on to the guys that helped.

Moved the working 802a over to the other side of the street to feed my uncle's garage for the winter. I put a generator inlet in earlier this fall that is going to feed my 5kw heater that I bought for load testing. Should take the edge off the winter, and a lot safer than the propane from last year. Should be a little cheaper too. With that done, I'll be able to work on the second 802a and figure out what's going on with the fuel system once the outdoor projects are done, and the weather forces me indoors.

Cut some 1/4” aluminum plate at work on the plasma table. Put a couple coats of paint on them to serve as a top for my fuel storage and a top to shield snow and leaves from covering the radiator outlet. Here they are before paint.

I also unhooked 2 of the emergency heat strips in my house furnace, it had 3 for a total of 15kW. I found that out the hard way when my heat pump went into defrost mode a week ago while on generator power and it got pulled down hard. So I had to test the new 5kW setup to verify the Genny would handle that load while the Heat pump and other house loads were on.

Looks nice. If 802a #2 doesn't sell after repairs, I'll have to do something like that since it doesn't have tarp hoops on the trailer.

Do you have some kind of anti-rodent screen on the gennie? I don't see anything, but insect screen might not show on the camera.

If this post was a reply to my unit, then no I don’t have rodent screen just yet. I have covered the main bottom hole with SS mesh but not got to the side intake and radiator outlet but that’s next on my list. I also added that exhaust extension to keep ice from freezing the flap closed.

Nice setup. Super nice exhaust pipe

Just used my 803a for real last night. Had a power failure for the entire street from 1:10am to 3:45am. Usually power failures here are short, like less than a few minutes. After 10 minutes, I went outside to pull the cover off (thanks @CallMeColt) and connect it to the house. It ran for about 2.5 hours and uses a little less than 1/8th tank. Haven’t heard what caused the outage. Max load was 25%. So now I have 8.2 hours on the meter. By my calculations it used .48 gallons per hour.

Our area had a power failure for unknown reasons a few days ago during below freezing conditions.
About 1,000 homes without power.

Luckily I already had the generator up towards power pole and finally won the wrestling match with a very stiff 50’ 50A power cable to hook to pole generator hookup.

Generator smoked lightly for about 20 seconds after starting and then clear.
Power was out for almost 6 hours and largest load was maybe 30%.
Only breaker I turned off was the Hot water heater and clearly I didn’t need to turn that off.

MEP-803A purred like a kitten and sipped the fuel.

I also have one of his generator covers and in 25 degree weather, it was still pliable and easy to remove. Well worth the money.

I’m very happy to have a generator that will literally handle everything I need.
