Ray, that's a good insight
If they can't fix it or get me close and you bet your butt I'll send this to you for a needle bearing would a needle bearing hold up to the loads also, how would you put a needle bearing on a split rod?
Waiting on updates so
If I can get it to run we will see if a 1955 Kohler 3.5 Generator end will spin and start it and get her to 1800rpm for some generator action!! 120/240 single phase hahahah every machine must earn its keep!!
No use in wasting a diesel sipper!!:p
I found the problem.
Someone put shell bearings in but did not put a hole for the oil squirter to get to the crankshaft.
The Squirter pushes high pressure lube shooting to the rod in line with the hole thru the rod (AND BREARING SHELL!!!) to keep the Journal Flooded. No Hole in the Shell :mad...
Thanks Gary and PB there are probably a Myriad of MFG that will do it. I just haven't contacted them yet.
See ya have a 1977 M151A2 Previous TOW Launcher.
Here's a pic from 1980 on the DMZ in Korea. Mighty young then.

Got the crank out. Talked to a friend. I'll be sending this thing to be ground and with any luck we can find some bearings. If not it'll be poured in Babbitt and that will be the end of it's hard work, show only after that. Sad
Thanks a lot My only concern was that the page number was different but it did say American Marc so who cares what page it's on I bought the one before it too so now I got the 7th and 8th edition those things are like 250 pages each wow can't have enough books that's for sure.
Thanks again for...
I bought that manual.
Slinger you are my hero.
When I get it I'll let you know if it's as beautiful as I think it will be.
I think that that book has the most information on this engine on the entire interweb.
And once again it always pays to ask You never know.
