I've got Goliath, an M1081 from Bragg, that I'm modifying in the pattern of the Army SOCOM desert resupply as you describe. A.k.a. War Pig and a few other variants.
Other than the windshield, the glass is standard, door internals as well.
The latches for the fold-down panels can be found on the...
Finally, I was put in the penalty-box here for not properly listing parts for sale or trade but cannot post in the Classifieds.
I’ve totally stripped stem-to-stern the old M1093/M1094 cab.
PM me for possible sales or trades,im looking for a few things in particular. Thx muchly
In conjunction with fitting the bikini top, I realized that the cab tilt/suspension hydraulic valves were leaking down inside the cover and onto the fuel tank. Ugly and messy, soaks up dust from the road, marks the ground, etc. This is not a Harley-Davidson that needs to mark its territory...
Probably a first in the world of the LMTV/FMTV: a cab with a cage and a soft “bikini” removable top! In the quest to make Goliath akin to the War Pig/Animal Mother pattern of Army SOCOM resupply vehicles, I realized that driving distances without a windscreen or cover can become miserable even...
Fugly because it’s slowly turning into an Animal Mother or War Pig configuration. The windscreen is removable. There were so many variants of the Army SOCOM resuply that I pretty much use free rein on the de-sign. There was a Flying Dump Truck that was converted and a few others that can be...
There were a few more trains that passed while we were out there. However, exposure Times in the fading light made them blurs unlike the first photo.
Would certainly be interesting to see the sights from the cab! Some things, once seen, cannot be in-seen.
Well, more fun with Goliath here. Rescue and Recovery for fun and sport! Shameless plug for 775 Off-road and Recovery (https://775ofr.com/). Volunteer 501c(3) group that helps people who have exceeded their and their vehicles capabilities. Covers northern Nevada and into the Lake Tahoe area...
Theres fun to be had here. On Facebook, there’s a few other FMTV owners in the local area we could possibly get together with, especially with your path of travel going through their home-areas south of me
At a previous job I had with a company that tested vehicles for a variety of customers, military and civilian, the MK23 MTVR was the gold standard that other vehicles were compared to. With the cross locking axles, sophisticated CTIS, powerful engine and matching transmission, and fully...
When I was having an intermittent starting issue, I thoroughly cleaned and protected both ends of the alternator case to ground, the PDP ground to cab just inside the passenger door area under the PDP, and the cab to chassis behind the grill. Those fixed the problem.
Yes, there is an adapter between the tail of the air compressor and the splines on the input of the power steering pump. Could be it’s wrong?
-24p, Figure 163, Part 9 (manual dated July 2001)
There may be an adapter that goes between the output of the air pump and the power steering hydraulic pump. A collar of sorts that meshes the splines. Lemme check the parts -24p
I agree that checking grounds is importantly. I swapped cabs on my M1081 and started having the starter “ka-chunk, ka-chunk, ka-chunk, vroom” problem. Pulled and cleaned ground strap behind the grill on the front bottom of cab, passenger side. Checked the strap under the PDU where it bolts to...
More fun with Goliath! Fallon Nevada car show several weekends ago. No angled parking against the curb, so I do what I do with a big truck: make my own parking. I’ve made some signs with pics of the various Army Special Forces variants that I could find, magnetted them to. The front, on either...
If you're looking for odds and ends to troubleshoot/repair this issue, I'm parting out a M1078 cab following my recent cab-swap ("What have you done to your LMTV lately"). I pulled good parts from the old cab into the new cab. Parts from the new cab are available but untested. Treadle valve...
And a quote back to you along those lines:
Euripides: 'Those whom God wishes to destroy, he first makes mad.'
Which leads up to the fix for my starting/fuel quantity problem: P43 under the dash is the same shape as another Pxx (can't remember which) but more pins used. The other connector only...
Actually, in deciphering the electrical schematics, both the fuel quantity wire from the sender to the gauge as well as the below wire from K1 to the Aux Starter Relay run through P43 under the main dash panel. I'm going to start there and do continuity checks both directions from there. Stupid...
Update on the LMTV cab swap: the cab is bolted down properly. Back-of-cab hooks are adjusted but I’ve got work to do on the cab latch. Good news and bad news, good first: after a week of troubleshooting I got Goliath to start and run, only the fuel gauge inop so far, probably connector. Bad...
