The new pump has a bigger piston and moves more fuel per stroke good for easier priming and keeps the engine from leaning out from lack of fuel. Cummins did a service bulletin but not a recall for the 5.9 and it should have covered the 8.3 also. Just make sure the pump you get that the primer...
The military uses 12v batteries also hooked like you have here. Just hook that wire to the positive terminal of the battery that it's directly over and that's 12v. Your fan switch for the heater if you have one gets 12v for the low speed.

Have many M936 bits and pieces laying around might could spare a piece here and there to help out a young man such as yourself.
@AH64-longbow Peter,
Long read for just a few questions. If you are a welder and a helicopter pilot, you are more than qualified to fix all of the short comings of this truck.

One wrecker is never even close to enough if you plan on using it. I broke 4 in five days once and wasn't being stupid on 3 of those it just happens on equipment that has so many systems and moving parts. It also lets you work one while working on and waiting for parts for the other one. And...
Okay so this might help now and in the future. When setting up your 936 wreckers, engage your pto and give it enough throttle to have the transmission go through all the gears up to 5th then set the rpms to 1500. Failure to do so can cause transmission damage.
Would like to get the valves maybe complete boat. Can't believe idiot cut them like that. You can get glue and repair kits from Zodiac, not sure it would fix that though.
Ran jumper from horn to fuel shut-off solenoid. This allows it to start normally but has to be shut-off by emergency kill handle or unplug jumper wire and flip ignition switch.
Okay may have found something the Schematics list a neutral start switch and a neutral safety switch. Where is the neutral start switch? Neutral safety is in the shifter.
Can back feed from fuel solenoid and it will start with the switch. Changed the protective control box with known good one , ignition switch with good one and jumped the neutral safety switch and it still will not start normally. No clue at this point.
