802a #2 Gotta be easier than the first...

Having changed careers about a decade ago, I no longer have to work outdoors for a living. I miss what I did, but I don't miss the conditions at times. Worst case now is I have to walk across the parking lot to the other building, and if it's bad weather, I usually just wait until the next day...

802a #2 Gotta be easier than the first...

I honestly didn't notice a fault light, but I wasn't looking as I was reaching over to the switch while looking around the corner at where the injectors were plumbed in... Having a second warm body around would make some of these tasks much easier. I'll go with the Reset/Battle Short when I...

Excellent. I was imagining that would come in to play. Hadn't gone through the TM to see what's NO vs NC with the faults.

802a #2 Gotta be easier than the first...

Right. New roll pin in place. They're not quite as heavy as the OEM, but it'll be fine. One bad injector replaced. Replacement probably isn't perfect. It should be ok, and if the unit fires up, then it'll get a does of some flavor of cleaner added to the tank. Might just be gummy as I...

21 minutes later, and the pins just got here... Just finished lunch. Perfect timing.

802a #2 Gotta be easier than the first...

Another couple hours, and everything appears to be moving as it should in there. I expect it isn't perfect, but it is very close. Hopefully within the tolerance that can be adjusted out externally. I set the limit screws on the external lever per TM. They're locked with the nuts currently...

    New-to-me-803A!

Don't forget the holes under the batteries too. I mean the battery should take care of that, but it's easy to deal with while you're getting the center hole.

    Mep-003a Sitting A Long Time

Oh that just makes me sick... Having had two of three harnesses burn up on my first 802a I feel your pain... My best guess was corrosion in the contacts at the point it burned/melted. Since then, everything new gets a complete DeOxit treatment before it sees any voltage.

802a #2 Gotta be easier than the first...

The rack is/was bent. I just spent 7 hours fighting with that thing. I actually ended up going too far. Now the pumps bind in the bottom of the slot. That's ok. I know I can tweak it back now. Planning to tweak it back tomorrow, and then button up enough to get the engine cranking over...

802a #2 Gotta be easier than the first...

Ok, I've about reached my wits end on this thing. After last weeks episode, I knew I had to reestablish the fuel rail off position. So I pulled the whole thing apart again, and I even got the right spacers to make the 55.5mm gage to set the fuel rail travel. Disassembly went very easy as I've...

    Mep-003a Sitting A Long Time

Since you mentioned this unit was sitting in a field, I'd want to take a look inside any of the electrical panels, and controls for mouse houses... Hate to fire it up only to cause more issues due to shorts, or fire...

802a #2 Gotta be easier than the first...

Yes, actually, it was stuck to the tip on both injectors. Got them cleaned, at least superficially... Set up to test them, and still have no fuel to the pumps. Swapped another pump in for the Facet, and still nothing. Plenty of fuel coming back down the return line. Ran the batteries down...

Gents. I just pulled the injectors. Looking down the hole, I see steel. Shouldn't I see a copper seal down there?

    MEP-802a TM 9-6115-641-24 needed

I recently did print one off on my home laser printer, because I agree that the paper version is handy. It took a little while, but really the cost isn't bad if you have it print double sided. Tedious for sure, but not unreasonable.

802a #2 Gotta be easier than the first...

I pulled down the injector service manual from Stanadyne, and read through the procedure yesterday. I came to the conclusioon that if they're not easily cleanable, assuming they need it, then they'll just be replaced. I'd spend more setting up to do it than it would cost to replace all the...

802a #2 Gotta be easier than the first...

OK... Pumps pulled. Broke the gen side down first. Cleaned. Everything moved very nicely. For sure a few particles around, so good that it's done. Broke down the fan side. It was sticky. Moving, but tight. Carb cleaner did it's thing, and all is moving nicely again. It wasn't stuck...

802a #2 Gotta be easier than the first...

Sadly, yes, the limit screws had been messed with in the past. I did my best to set them correctly by the TM when I was inside, and verified that the rail moves smoothly. I may not have gotten them perfect, so that's on the list to check. Once I get the set running right, they will get a dose...

See above in red. Geesh Guy, you want people to read the TM's, but can't sit through 4 pages of angst? It'll cure insomnia for sure.

802a #2 Gotta be easier than the first...

Pulled it outside again this morning. Batteries topped overnight. Crank, and nothing. FSS is working. The pump control lever moves where it should, and feel like my working 802, and the spare engine I've got. Routed the return line to the tank, and it does flow fuel. It also flows fuel...

802a #2 Gotta be easier than the first...

Round two today never made it to 60hz. Started better than the first round, but real slow, and kept picking up slowly, just never got enough RPMs to get close to 60. I'll see if I can see return flow tomorrow with a mirror down the fill. Only have a couple gallons in there, so I should have...
