Switch it to ATF. I've swapped a whole bunch of trucks over to Dex VI and had zero issues. Good opportunity to swap the filters and check all the drain plug magnets for C6 leavings.
Well.... No. There's a couple ways to skin this CAT but none of them involve $20,000 tools.
Mostly because $20k probably wouldn't be enough for CAT to break their corporate policy of not re-rating military serial number engines. They won't give you the files or the passwords to do so using...
I don't think so.... I mean there's diodes on the circuit board style PDP that could potentially back feed if they failed shorted. Those panels can and do have problems with failed diodes and cracked solder joints. Horrible design using a PCB for that thing in this application. Absolutely the...
Start tracing back in the schematic and on the truck from the point you have 24v and shouldn't and test/check till you uncover what you did.
You are in uncharted waters for us - we don't know what you did or didn't do or where you veered off course into the rhubarb.
This is HOW you learn...
Replied to your message. No choice but to find someone that can flash it actually since the CAT dealer won't rerate any military C7's and even if they would the 370/931 fuel map is Defense use only - it's not available to the public as it doesn't meet the EPA standards I assume.... Even though...
Sounds like a power (fueling usually) or transmission issue to me. I've installed ECO hubs on a bunch of trucks..... I think like 8 or 9 now. None have exhibited issues like that. I just did an M1089 chassis with 24' habitat weighing in around 33k lbs. 3126 truck at 330/860 but still - while...
You can just modify the plate. Basically cut out a rectangle and drill four holes. Trivial.
The modern component is now typically about $50 surplus on the usual marketplaces. Worth it to upgrade IMO. Now much more common - used on almost everything with air brakes.
Fundamentally no it works the same. It just eliminates the lines that connect the two valves together since those are now internal to the manifold they are both a part of. In addition you can delete the bulkhead vent line in favor of a sintered brass exhaust filter as was done on the A1R FMTV.
The LMTV switched to the more modern valve assembly he linked to starting in 2004. You would be better off upgrading as it simplified the plumbing and is easier to work on with PTC connectors.
What Paul posted above but being a '97 you will have to build an adapter plate for the new style combo valve or find the older individual valves to replace what was used on the old A0 trucks like yours. And the plumbing is a little different if you adapt. Just label your lines and trace things...
There's basically nothing to rebuild. All the stuff that could have "failed" is very non-trivially potted and what's left is windings and that would require a motor/generator rewind shop which is not likely to be economical. It's also a NASTY process best left for industrial settings and...
2003 should have Nord Lock washers on the power steering support bracket. That was an issue with the A0 trucks, not so much on the A1 trucks unless it's been apart and they lost the Nord Locks.
It's pretty simple to service the check valves and shuttle valves. There's nothing else to really be a point of failure if you service these cheap components once every decade or so.
Why are you deleting the glad hands? If a truck has no glad hands or interconnect cable socket - I'm not coming to rescue it with a tow bar..... So there goes the community when you need help. Tow companies are going to want a $2500 deposit over the phone before they roll hardware. Removing...
Default pressure is different for different trucks. 55 psi on most. M1088 and M1089 run 81 psi for highway. There is no standard default - it depends on the chassis harness configuration so that if you swap modules between trucks it will load the correct pressure for that chassis. That's what...
