700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

You may need to make the linkage arm that attaches ether shorter or longer, if the shifter does not have enough throw to get to all the gears from the park position (assuming you have gotten to the point you are in park with both the transmission and the shifter) you would need to make the arm shorter.
Thanks for the input Mogman! That’s what I’m thinking too. I did try starting with both in Park the first time and I could only get the transmission through to either overdrive or drive, but surely not to 2nd or 1st. I tried shortening the arm at the transmission by mocking up a replacement with extra holes closer to the center point but that didn’t work. I’m thinking I will try to lengthen the bottom end of the shifter lever so the radius is greater, therefore increasing the amount of movement, at the transmission. Hopefully that works, otherwise I’m out of ideas at the moment.

Perhaps contact Bow tie transmissions

They bought 700r4.com.
Thanks TOBASH. I have been working with Bow tie and unfortunately they did not have any specific solutions to share with me on the linkage. They’ve been really great to work with so far on every other question I’ve had though. Super friendly and truly seem happy to talk with me and very patient with my noob/ignorant questions 😁.

I used a regular 4-speed HMMWV specific dual shifter for tranny and x-fee case.
I can’t remember any more info re.: I might have needed something b/t shift and tranny. Seem to recall there was something we put there. Did this a long time ago.

I too am using the hmmwv 4 speed shifter. If you (or anyone else with this conversion done) could slide under and take a quick picture that would be very helpful. I know not everyone on this forum did the conversion themselves (a professional transmission shop did) so they may not be exactly sure what was required, but if they still have the truck the solution is still there. I would be truly grateful for any pictures that could be shared of the final product.
