Hello do you all know of other groups with collectors of the cckw?
Just curious if anyone wants to share what they have ?
I’m interested in purchasing one. But would like to talk to someone who owns one to get more familiar with them.

Whatcha need to know? There are infrequent discussions about them here and over at G503. Also visit CCKW.ORG. Amazing 84 year old trucks, we drove 2 of them all over England, France and Belgium with only a broken brake spring as the only problem we had for a D-Day event. I have owned mine since the 1990s.

Any and all parts can be found once you start looking around. Sheet metal can be difficult. The painful price of entry into the CCKW are the 7.50-20 tires, now seem to be over $400 a piece. I did a quick check, 11 of them would cost $5155, ouch. There are no other options for the tires.

Ouch don't post your phone number in a forum, you will get spammed. Post pictures of what you are considering, and we will pick it apart and give you some sage advice.

I just found a home for an original CCW (5 ton 6X4) took a bit of doing to find the 'pieces and parts', but they're out there. There's a guy who advertises in the M/V magazines, he's up in Canada, but attends the shows and he has access to quite a bit of stuff. Even makes new data plates. Mine was an EARLY war unit and those Yellow Truck and Bus units were hard top cab, and were the last to have all steel beds. (think we've got a rebuild able all steel GMC bed here yet if you need one. They went to all wood and later in the war a composite, steel frame and sides with wood floor. Think the bed here has a set of NEW replacement stake pockets to replace the ones on it with the bottoms rusted. MIGHT have some other stuff too, like vacuum booster and such, alot went with the truck but something always gets 'missed' especially when your barn resembles "Fibber Magee's Closet" like mine does. If you look under the front end of the second picture, thats an I-beam axle not a drive axle.
I bought the truck years ago from a farmer who's dad put a hoist bed on it for grain/potatoes. It failed and cracked a rear drive axle, found a replacement axle easy enough. But the barn I built for them took time, then the govt transferred me to another job, and with the pancreatic cancer, well I had it about 15 years, had a hell of a collection of parts, but health that went sideways, so its elsewhere now. Good Luck to you and if you're interested in the parts, I'll make you a good deal, not like they're doing ANYBODY any good here.

Capt Pat's example is what you want to start with. Nice cab, frame not butchered. Jimmys that have been forgotten about under a tree for 60 years are not worth messing with. Been there done that.

Deestone is now selling a more budget friendly option then the Coker Tire Firestones...
