There is no electric fuel pump. Get familiar with the technical documentation posted here. The fuel control is completely controlled by the ecm. If the primer handle on the filter housing is firm (fuel to injectors) check ECM with the following. What does your TIM say behind the passenger dash?
Plug it in and see if you can get the Serial Number of the ECM to pull up at a minimum. If not then ECM is dead or no power. Check Fuses above the 3rd valve cover in the wiring harness and make sure they are not broken. If all good test key on power to pin 70 on rear ecm plug. If power and no SN on TIM then bad ECM. Contact me if you need one or any other mtvr parts.

That fuel sender error is no big deal. That's just another name for the fuel level sensor. The TIM will tell you if it can communicate with the ECM, when you try to go to the ECM menu item (it will also indicate it's not found during it's bootup). These are known for ECMs dieing but it could be any number of issues.
You should be able to get the fuel system primed with the hand primer,it will get hard to push if you have fuel all the way through the system.
