Yesterday was troubleshooting the brake light system. They worked, then suddenly they didn't. I checked all of the wiring and narrowed it down to the switch. I was getting 12v when I pressed the brake pedal, but no amperage. I couldn't imagine a simple mechanical switch failing in that manner.
Upon investigation, I found that the previous mechanic had "repaired" the wires going to the switch and had used stiff connectors on a 90° bend, and only 2 strands of metal were making the connection:

So I built a new wire connection with some good, water tight flexible connections.

After that it was time to do a little customization.
My daughter (who is the ultimate recipient of this truck) has no desire for blackout lights, so i didn't bother wiring them in.
I was looking at the BO drive light and had an idea.
I took this LED:

A dremel and extra wiring and a knob.
Putting it together with sealant after cutting the hole:
