My A3 has one on the passenger side of the engine block that's pretty inaccessible, so I'm pretty jealous :p
Maybe I should try installing another one somewhere easier to get to... 🤔
I was thinking about the F-14 today, mainly because I have a Transformer figure of an F-14 from the Transformers X Top Gun collab sitting on my desk right now.
Apparently when the Super Hornet was being considered, there was a Super Tomcat 21 concept that would've redesigned the cockpit...
I know of at least one M35E3 that was built with a Cat 3116, had the A3 bed, a ZF 5-speed manual transmission, and air-assisted steering. I believe it was one of the ESP concepts that the Army was testing. It looked like an A2 from the outside except for the A3 bed. That truck was for sale on...
What do you plan on doing with the truck? It's always been my understanding that singled-out rear wheels should have the hubs flipped otherwise heavy enough loads (of which I'm not sure how heavy) in the back of the truck will accelerate wheel bearing wear.
To be fair to the 5-tons, it's also...
Single or dual-circuit? I know dual-circuit trucks take a bit more oomph to work the brakes than single-circuit trucks based on feedback I've read here. I say that having never driven a single-circuit deuce before.
I have a hunch that hand pressure wouldn't lock up the brakes on a...
That's one of the reasons to get your kids a deuce - the fuel costs enough that they wouldn't be able to engage in other vices - especially the bad ones :ROFLMAO:
At least it was a good necropost
You can leave it on the wheel too if you'd like. I think the A3 valves are distinct enough from other valves that we should be able to tell whether they're something else while they're still mounted.
Here's the valve diagram for the M35A3:
There is supposed to be a spring in there (part #14 toward the left side of the image). I take it you've had your valves apart and the springs are missing? I'm not aware of any manufacturing differences with the valves where the spring could be...
Thanks for sharing those. The wheel valves look the same except for the fact they are FMTV wheel valves with different components in them :p The FMTV is a different truck with different manufacturers. I'm pretty sure CM Automotive didn't design the CTIS for the FMTV - maybe it was Meritor...
Can you please share the video links? I can take a look at them and compare them to the TM.
I haven't had any wheel valves apart on my truck as I decided to leave them off after I replaced the tires.
The TMs do have disassembly and cleaning instructions for the wheel valves. @spectra3279 are you asking if the valve models and functional components were mixed and matched on the trucks?
I'm pretty sure the red stuff is formulated to work with diesel engines. It's more resistant to cavitation or something due to the higher vibrations associated with diesel engines.
Where I get fuzzy is whether to run OAT or NOAT or whatever antifreeze in a diesel motor. What makes it easy for...
This is one of the top questions next to the meaning of life: Where does my brake fluid go? :p
The only answer I can think of is that more fluid sits in the lines as a result of brake shoe wear and the wheel cylinders not fully retracting after the brake pedal is released. But that wouldn't...
I don't think I have one there. There's a cab heater in the way instead :)
In fact, I don't think I have an air hookup in the cab at all. I never saw one anytime I've been under the dash of my A3.
I hope you're getting good brass fittings from a reputable seller. I took a couple off the CTIS wheel components on my truck that had small cracks in them that were leaking air - a 90 degree flat-sided fitting and an inline filter. I guess AM General cheaped out on them 🤷♂️
You might find this thread I made helpful for your air dryer heater question - no ohm ranges though:
