Do you get any codes?

I seem to remember someone offering to 'rent' a good ECM for troubleshooting. . .

I have an ECM that will work to troubleshoot. The problem with it is that once you turn off the truck for a while it loses the configuration because the battery inside is bad.

Leave the truck keyed on for a while. See if connection becomes less speraric.

Okay, so it's good news you can talk to the ECM, that also shows you have/had the OLD flash file that could cause start issues. See here: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10177116-0001.pdf
After flashing did you load the config file? The truck has to be told all the settings to run (the flash is just the "tune" but lacks the specific information for your truck.
Seems like you are having connectivity issues, but the fact you were able to successfully load the flash? Doesn't make sense that ET (not winflash) can't read it unless your connection settings are a bit off. Could also happen if you a flaky protocol adapter - there are lots ofknock offs out there.

Has to be a very specific ECM. If you have to ask it is likely you should not be programming your own ECM. Severe engine damage will occur and can also cause transmission damage. I recommend honestly to get a drop in replacement ECM for your truck pre programmed and configured. I do sell them this way so if interested let me know. I can also do a proper attempt to flash your ecm.
