If you absolutely depend on this truck, reliability might be questionable for starting in the cold. But you aren't going to damage anything using them. I frequently use group 65 batteries in 5tons.
I replaced the one that cracked, and in so doing found that every piece of rubber line on the machine is crunchy (no surprise).
What's the routing on the fuel return? I've got a bunch of loose ends that I can't tell where they came from or what they hook into.
I pulled the cover off the top...
So I have three gensets, and not a one of them is fully operational.
This one seems to be the shortest path to electrical power. It's a MEP802. Was working fine and sprung a leak. Low pressure fuel line, old and crusty...
First Pic is in situ looking from the slave port side. 2nd pic is the...
Thank you!
Given that it isn't currently making correct voltage, how concerned should I be?
Forecasted temps around zero. A greenhouse worth of decorative plants. My concern is possible loss of grid power. Potential problems, no actual problems. Yet.
Thanks. This confirms my understanding.
No blower motors or anything else that i understand to be voltage sensitive. Just heat generation using radiant heaters.
I've got a 20kW genset that's putting out ~85volts instead of the 120v.
In an emergency, can I run this through a PD box and use it for electrical heating?
J1 contactor INOP and has been for some time.
Today all 3 legs on the genset were under voltage. From seventy some odd volts wandering up to 95V. For a brief time it made 120v on all three legs. No load placed on it at any point.
I let it run for half an hour or so.
Where do I start looking?
@155mm and/or Robert K may have suggestions or be of assistance. (David, please nudge Robert, i forget his SS name.)
I'm in Omaha for the weekend, and my phone is broken so I have lost all my contact info. I've got a towbar in Washington KS 66933 and plenty of parking if you need some place to...
I would think that an engine swap would be the shortest and least expensive path to getting the truck back on the road.
Possible easy candidates would be 6.2 and 6.5 engines from civvy vehicles, other CUCVs, or HMMWVs.
I believe you could also transplant a 5.9 Cummins with a little more...
